Well, today I joined. I've been a member of the AWU because of a site I was on for the past 6 years but I don't feel they are particularly interested in getting involved with security so I made the jump.

I've heard that The United Voice isn't too crash hot either, but that's where I want to try make a difference.

I am in Newcastle, and have asked to be trained as a delegate and will be taking a very pro active approach to union membership in the Hunter for security. When I get my feet, I aim to try bring the profile of the union up also as being heard on security wages, training, conditions and overall opinion of the industry.

If you're local to Newcastle I'm happy to hear about anything people have to say and when I get some training and on my feet with some confidence you'll hear more from me.

Will update again when things get rolling.
