Woolworths and business partner Bruce Mathieson have severed all commercial links with a company controlled by the Comancheros motorcycle gang, which provided security at more than a dozen Melbourne hotels and gaming venues.

Australian Leisure and Hospitality Group, which is 75 per cent owned by Woolworths, announced on Tuesday it would no longer use Ultimate Crowd Control, which is owned by Comancheros vice-president Robert Morando.

Mr Morando, 41, will face court on Wednesday over serious charges of attempting to pervert the course of justice, after he allegedly threatened to cut open an associate if he refused to accept blame for explosives found by police last year.

He was arrested with Comancheros president Michael Murray last Friday, following raids by the Echo Taskforce on a string of properties linked to the gang.

ALH launched a review of its security arrangements following a Fairfax Media investigation and decided to cancel its security contracts with the Comancheros-backed company at 13 Melbourne hotels. ALH Group spokesman David Curry had said the company had been unaware of the ownership change at Ultimate Crowd Control. ASIC documents reveal Mr Morando was the sole owner of Ultimate Crowd Control since it was established in June 2010. It is understood that former company NitroSecurity, owned by Mr Murray, had provided security at several ALH Group hotels until 2010.

Disgruntled Woolworths investors threatened to dump shares in the listed company if it refused to end its commercial relationship with the notorious motorcycle gang. Mr Morando and Mr Murray will face the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
